# Are we responsible for paying taxes?

Once you hire a household Helper, the Helper will become your employee. The Family is responsible for the Helper's compensation. Because we do not employ the Helpers, we do not provide a W-2 or 1099 for helpers.

Each user is responsible for any tax, withholding, or reporting. As we are unable to provide legal or tax advice on payment, please consult a tax accountant or attorney for more information about helper compensation.
